Tony Hegarty

Tony presently runs a beef enterprise with his wife Jane, son and daughter-in-law, at Cassilis in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales.

He have been involved in a range of primary production enterprises at the grass roots and business management levels in the Hunter Valley since completing a Bachelor of Agricultural Science from Sydney University in 1980.

He holds some 40 years extensive agricultural and environmental knowledge and experience in the Upper Hunter, along with community representation locally and throughout New South Wales.

Tony is currently on Executive Council of NSW Farmers Association, the current President of Cattle Council of Australia Board, and current Director of National Farmers Federation of Australia.

Since its inception in 2014, Tony has been on the Board of Hunter Local Land Services and now Chairs that organisation. This body is responsible for the delivery of services and programs of Agricultural extension, Natural Resource Management, Animal Health, Biosecurity and Emergency Management, for landholders and Community of the region.

He has been involved at the local level with the inception of his Landcare group and the regional branch of the Country Education Foundation.
