Georgie Somerset

Georgie is based on her family’s cattle property in Queensland’s South Burnett and is actively involved in the operation of the multi-generational family business. For many years she has juggled the demands of beef production alongside her roles in many influential organisations.

Georgie holds a number of positions across the not-for-profit, government and industry sectors, including being the first female General President of AgForce Queensland. She is also Deputy Chair of the Royal Flying Doctor Service Qld and holds director positions on the National Farmers Federation, the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and is Chair of the Red Earth Community Foundation.

Her passion for advocating for rural Australia and her service to primary industries and the community saw her named as a Member of the Order of Australia in 2020.

Georgie believes in embracing change and connecting despite geographic isolation, investing in people and lifelong learning and is a strong supporter of guiding young people in the ag industry.
